VALEDICTORY AWARDS
By the words of our principal, Mrs Lange – Valedictory Speech
Good evening to our learners, teachers, and parents Tonight, we stand at the edge of a vast and magnificent ocean—the ocean of your future.
Behind you lies the shoreline of your school journey, where each grain of sand tells a story of growth, challenge, and triumph. You arrived as gentle ripples in St Gabriel’s, or in Primary School or in High School, uncertain and curious. Now, you leave as powerful waves, shaped by experience, ready to carve your mark on the world.
You have braved storms—academic pressures, personal trials, moments of doubt —and yet, you did not sink. You rose. You learned to navigate the tides of life with courage and grace. You discovered that strength is not the absence of struggle, but the ability to rise again and again.
At St Thomas, we have stretched your minds academically, taught you how to question the world, and enabled you to find answers to new questions. Socially, you’ve built bridges of friendship, and we are looking forward to host you in 2035 at your ten year reunion. You have learned empathy, and discovered the power of community. Personally, you’ve grown into individuals of character—resilient, thoughtful, and bold. We are so proud of you! But no wave rises alone. To our amazing teachers—thank you for being the steady lighthouse, guiding with wisdom and unwavering belief. Cheering them on. Mrs Soal, your guidance as the deputy principal in the High School has made a huge impact on our learners and we are so grateful for your leadership. To our parents — thank you for being the shore these young people return to, offering love, patience, and strength. You are the wind in their sails, encouraging them to dream bigger and reach further.
Grade 12’s, the tide is calling you forward. The world awaits your presence, your kindness, your voice. Do not drift aimlessly. Be the wave that lifts others. Be the current that brings change. Be the storm that challenges injustice. Live with purpose. Dream with conviction. Act with courage.
You are not just leaving school—you are launching into life. And life, like the ocean, is vast, mysterious, and full of possibility. So, dive in. Swim far. Sail boldly. You are the captain of your ship. Congratulations, Class of Grade 12. The world is yours—go make waves.

Sunday Reflection
Strength in Community
There is amazing strength in being together. When we come together—sharing our
happiness, struggles, and dreams – we become more powerful than we could ever be by
ourselves. Community shows us that we don’t have to tackle life’s difficulties alone.
Whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or a small gesture of kindness, every moment
of connection creates a strong base of support and love. In uncertain times, rely on your
community—your family, friends, school, and faith group. God often uses the people
around us to guide, comfort, and lift us. “For where two or three gather in my name, there
am I with them.”
Matthew 18:20 Together, we rise, we heal, and we grow.
Never lose hope in the lord our God; continue having faith and believing in him, and that
he will help you through troubles and trials
As high school learner, we are about to start writing our exams. I know we are all tired
and burnt out; some of us are stressed out, and some of us are panicking, but you don’t
have to go through all that alone. Share your worries and problems with God by prayer
and reading the Bible. You weren’t brought this far to give up now. Keep pushing.
You’re not forgotten—God still sees you.
Even when life feels silent or unfair, remember this: God is still writing your story. Every
tear, every struggle, every late-night prayer matters.
